Amateur Golf Tour
by Kevin S. Knight
The Houston Amateur Golf Tour is a division of The Amateur Golf Tour that was formed in North Carolina in 1995 by Tour President Dennis McCormac. The Amateur Golf Tour provides individual stroke play competition for men and women amateurs of all ages with handicaps from 0 - 20.
The Houston Amateur Golf Tour will begin its inaugural season in 2006 with a schedule of 18 regular tour events at some of the best golf courses that Houston has to offer. Winners of their flight will receive a coveted cut glass trophy for their mantle or office along with prize money that is awarded in gift certificates. Depending on the number of participants, the top three in each flight will be in the money. The season will be capped off with a Houston Tour Finals that will be a two-day event held at Tour 18. The top ten points leaders in each flight from each division will be extended an invitation to the Amateur Golf Tours Final in Myrtle Beach, SC.
